General Questions

What types of dialysis treatments is Tablo® used for?

Tablo is a versatile enterprise solution suitable for use in the ICU, clinic, and home settings. Treatments must be administered under a physician’s prescription and supervised by a trained individual competent in using the device. Available treatment types include:

  • Intermittent Hemodialysis (IHD)

  • Sustained Low Efficiency Dialysis (SLED/SLEDD)

  • Prolonged Intermittent Renal Replacement Therapy (PIRRT)

  • Isolated Ultrafiltration

  • Note: Tablo is not indicated for continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) and is cleared for use up to 24 hours. The dialysate generated is not sterile and should not be used for intravenous (IV) infusion.

What kind of training is involved? How long does it take?

Training on Tablo is typically quicker and easier than traditional dialysis machines. Most nurses can be trained in under 4 hours. Outset also offers services to support specific knowledge areas, such as vascular access and dialysis care basics.

Patients and care partners can usually learn all device-related activities to start using Tablo at home in less than 4 training sessions, or about 2 weeks. Training includes operating the Tablo system, monitoring vital signs, administering medication, mastering aseptic technique, performing machine maintenance, and troubleshooting emergencies. The clinic will conduct training and determine when a patient is ready to start home treatment.

What kind of support does Outset provide?

Outset provides expertise, commitment, and hands-on experience to help integrate Tablo into your dialysis program or home. For more information about services and programs, visit the Services page. For patients interested in home dialysis, visit the Patients page

What is MyTablo® and TabloHub®?

MyTablo and TabloHub are online portals where customers and patients can access data generated by their Tablo systems, including treatment flow sheets and training materials. On-demand access to data and information reduces delays in acquiring reports and training materials, improving efficiencies.

Patient Questions

How do I get a Tablo? Is there a provider that offers Tablo near me?

If you are unsure if your current clinic or treatment facility offers Tablo, fill out the patient contact form. You can also contact your provider directly.

What does home training for Tablo look like?

You’ll receive guided training on Tablo from the home dialysis nurse at your clinic. In just a few days, you will be trained to dialyze at home with help from a family member or friend.

How does Tablo differ from other home dialysis machines?

Tablo’s all-in-one design, easy-to-use touchscreen interface, and smart sensors offer several advantages:

  • Saves space and time by quickly purifying water and producing dialysis on-demand.

  • Allows you to personalize your dialysis schedule.

  • Quick setup – takes less than 20 minutes to start treatment.

  • Alerts you when something needs attention and helps resolve alarms quickly.

  • Tracks your treatment data and wirelessly transfers records to your healthcare provider.

Can I travel with the Tablo in an RV or a larger vehicle?

You no longer need to lug your dialysis machine with you! A USB key contains all your treatment data, allowing you to make arrangements with a dialysis provider for in-center dialysis while you travel.

Provider Questions

I’m interested in implementing a home program with Tablo. Where do I start?

Request a demonstration, and a field representative will review your current dialysis services and recommend how Tablo can best contribute to your home program goals.

Can I rent Tablo?

Yes, you can rent Tablo. Trace Medical offers rental options for providers, making it easier to integrate Tablo into your dialysis program without a large upfront investment. Renting can be a cost-effective solution, providing flexibility and access to the latest technology without the commitment of a full purchase.

Why is it better to rent Tablo?

Renting Tablo through Trace Medical offers several benefits:

  • Cost-Effective: Avoid large upfront costs and pay as you go.

  • Flexibility: Adjust your equipment needs based on patient volume and program growth.

  • Access to Latest Technology: Ensure you always have the most up-to-date equipment.

  • Support and Maintenance: Benefit from comprehensive support and maintenance services included in the rental agreement.

How long does it take to train new nurses on Tablo?

Clinicians can be trained on Tablo in less than 4 hours, unlike traditional dialysis machines that require weeks. Sensors and advanced software automate much of the machine setup, treatment management, and maintenance. Step-by-step alarm resolution eliminates the need for manuals. Outset also offers clinical support programs to bolster specific knowledge areas.

Does Tablo work without TabloCart™?

Yes, Tablo operates fully and can deliver dialysis treatments without TabloCart. However, customers with harsh incoming water may experience a higher frequency of integrated filter changes without TabloCart’s prefiltration option.

What does the TabloCart prefiltration option include?

When configured with prefiltration, TabloCart has replaceable, large-capacity cartridge filters (sediment and/or carbon) that serve as “prefilters” to remove sediment and minerals from supply water before it enters the Tablo System’s integrated Water Purification System. The cart also includes a backflow preventer and a booster pump to transport water from the incoming supply to the Tablo System.
